Norwegian authorities specializing in tunnel surveillance Svalbard Global Seed Vault have planned to reform the system with a total cost of millions of dollars.

Svalbard Global Seed Vault is between Norway and the Arctic and is the world's largest collection of seed collections. Built in a mountain range in the Arctic Circle, the seeds here are kept cold even when there is no electricity, due to climate, ice around and freezing ice.

This facility is a form of preserving the safe seed of mankind, combating natural disasters, both natural and man-made, such as nuclear war or global warming. But with global temperatures rising and the Arctic in particular experiencing unusually warm temperatures, the permafrost melted into the warehouse tunnel last year.

No seeds were harmed because any water flowing in was immediately pumped out, but after 10 years of operation, the Norwegian government decided to upgrade this seed storage system.

The total cost proposed to renovate the system is up to 12.7 million US dollars to upgrade the tunnel technique, which helps to better protect 930,000 seeds within. Norway also plans to proceed to build a new concrete tunnel and a new service building to provide emergency, refrigeration and other necessary electrical equipment.

The Norwegian Minister of Agriculture and Food, Jon Georg Dale, said: "The upgrade will ensure the seed gene bank of the world has a safer storage space in the future. That's a task. important case to protect all important genetic materials for global food security ".
