MacBook Air / Pro Retina will be released in June 2013
A source in Digitimes said Apple is planning to launch a new version of MacBook Air in June next year with Retina screen. The old screen technology is also expected to be completely removed by Apple to adopt newer technologies.
According to sources, Apple has begun asking for new versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro supply chains. Digitimes said that there will be no changes to the external design but the new hardware will be upgraded with Intel's Haswell chip for better graphics processing capability.
The most noticeable change is probably that Apple will have a Retina display for the MacBook Air. This high-resolution screen was released on the iPhone since 2010 and has recently been available on two 15-inch and 13-inch MacBook Pro models. However, no MacBook Air model has a Retina standard screen yet. And perhaps the next upgrade for my laptop is when Apple equipped Retina for this laptop.
As expected, the total production of the MacBook series in 2013 will reach 17 million units. Also on MacBook, Apple sold 12.88 million products in 2011 and 9.78 million in the three quarters of 2012.
