On the evening of August 18 (Vietnam time), the information of the latest iOS version is now iOS 12.4 has been jailbroken so that the jailbreak community can not stop being shocked.
On my Twitter page, pwn20wnd - hacker and also the programmer of the unc0ver jailbreak tool has stated that iPhone and iPad users running iOS 12.4 were able to use the latest 3.5 unc0ver version to jailbreak their device. However, this jailbreak tool only supports devices using Apple A7 chips to A11, ie iPhone Xs, iPhone XR, iPad Pro (2018), iPad Air 3 10.5 inches and iPad mini 5 are not supported.
With Apple's increasingly strict security mechanism, the time to develop a jailbreak tool for a certain iOS version can take months or even years. Therefore, the iOS 12.4 just released more than 3 weeks has been surpassed by hackers as a rare feat.
Why is iOS 12.4 so easy to "knock down"?
Unexpectedly, the cause came from Apple and an anonymous developer. Specifically, Ahmed Aldeab - an anonymous programmer from Libya, accidentally discovered the sock_port vulnerability on iOS 12.4. The amazing point is that sock_port was used to jailbreak iOS 12.1 and was patched by Apple in iOS 12.3. Immediately, he shared information on Twitter, and tagged a series of famous hackers and jailbreak programmers.
The information Ahmed put out was too imaginative for most people, so no one believed, not even Jake James - another hacker and "father" who had previously discovered the sock_port vulnerability did not believe and hinted at broadcasting. Ahmed's present is just a fake.
Until Ahmed posted a video demonstrating that the vulnerability could work, people really believed it to be true. Jake James later confirmed that sock_port can work on iOS 12.4 and apologize to Ahmed Aldeab.
The sock_port vulnerability has been patched by Apple on iOS 12.3 but for some reason it was left open in iOS 12.4. This is an unprecedented thing, especially with a notorious security company like Apple.
