Hundreds of people in the Indian capital have set a world record together by drawing a picture on a giant slate.

About 500 people joined hands to paint a picture that stretched over 1,200 meters on the Indian Cultural Trail in Indianapolis to set a Guinness World Record for the largest art performance of chalk on the sidewalk.

The work is also part of a three-day effort to clear the sidewalk of the city by Eli Lilly, the pharmaceutical company, and the Keep Indianapolis Beautiful organization.

KIB spokesman Ashley Haynes told the Indianapolis Star: "The Guinness world record that this project has achieved shows a new good for the city of Indianapolis." Many individuals and organizations together create this art work not only to break the world record, but also to show the change in people's perceptions of public buildings. '
