Huawei is about to install HarmonyOS on all devices, leaving Android dual booting open

Huawei is currently planning to install HarmonyOS for all devices while leaving support for dual boot to run Android in case it can continue to work with Google when the U.S. embargo is lifted.

In the aftermath of the U.S.-China trade war, partners in the US and allied countries stopped cooperating with Huawei one after another. And Huawei Mate 30 is the first smartphone of the Chinese technology company that does not come with the official Android version from Google.

Although Huawei and Google are now cooperating again, the Chinese technology company still has a plan B, its own operating system called HarmonyOS. According to Huawei's introduction, this operating system is not only for smartphones, smart TVs, wearables, but also for in-car entertainment systems.

It's unclear just how high-performance HarmonyOS is and Huawei's decision is still in the first steps. Also, for a device running dual boot, not every user knows how to work.

In case, Google continues to work with Huawei, then HarmonyOS will be for IoT devices only, as the original purpose when it was created.
