How to Make Taco Seasoning Mix
Steps
Method 1 of 2:
Making the Seasoning
-
Mix all the ingredients of either variation in a small bowl thoroughly. Alternately, shake in a small jar to combine. Each variation has its own distinct flavor. Experiment with what tastes best for you. Each recipe contains chili powder, cumin, and paprika, but variation #1 has coriander and cayenne, while variation #2 has onion and garlic powder, in addition to red pepper flakes and oregano. -
Store taco seasoning in an airtight container for up to several months. Use sooner rather than later for best results.
Method 2 of 2:
Using the Seasoning on Tacos
-
Prepare to use about 2 tablespoons of seasoning for every 1 pound of meat. Add more or less seasoning depending on your taste. -
Brown the meat in a large saucepan thoroughly. Drain away any excess fat from the saucepan. -
Add taco seasoning and incorporate into the meat fully. -
Add 1/2 cup of water per pound of meat and simmer until water is fully evaporated. This should take anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes.- If you want your taco seasoning to turn into a sauce, add cornstarch or flour to the water. The water will thicken up as it cooks.

Serve and enjoy!
