Elon Musk launches Starlink Mini with the claim that it can 'change the world'
A compact version of the new Starlink antenna was launched by Space X with advertising as a mobile option for its satellite Internet customers.
According to Space It is half as small and one-third as light as Starlink's Standard antenna, and can fit in a backpack. It is designed to provide high-speed internet with low latency on the go.
Starlink Mini comes with a built-in WiFi router and "consumes less power" than other antennas. Starlink Mini's download speeds reach over 100 megabits per second.
Starlink Mini is currently being sold in limited quantities and is priced at 599 USD (about 15 million VND) each, 100 USD more than the basic "Standard" model sold with the Residential service.
Space
In addition to the initial hardware cost, Starlink Mini costs $150 per month to use the service. Currently, this service of Starlink Mini is being offered by SpaceX as an additional package of 30 USD per month on top of the Residential package of 120 USD/month.
The "Mini Roam" service is limited to 50 gigabytes of data per month and "can be used anywhere in the United States. Each gigabyte over capacity will be charged an additional $1.
Elon Musk said that installing Starlink Mini takes less than five minutes. Musk declared: "This product will change the world."
SpaceX currently has about 6,000 Starlink satellites in orbit, connecting more than 3 million customers in 100 countries.
