Discovering tiny crab species can climb trees

Crawling crabs vertically, this exotic crab is not a product of imagination or alien creatures in sci-fi movies that really exist in our nature.

Recently, scientists have discovered a new crab species in Hong Kong. They are very small in size, no more than 1 cm long but have a strange ability to climb trees.

This newly discovered tiny crab species is called Haberma tingkok, they can climb up to 2m high and disguise the mangrove bark. Currently, the number of this species is affected by polluted and narrow habitats.

Regarding their ability to climb trees, it is suggested that this crab looks like mutant frogs.

This is the second crab species on Earth with this special ability. The first crab species is known for its climbing ability, coconut crab, the largest arthropod in the world. The reason this crab is called is because of their preference to eat coconuts.

Every day, crabs climb high coconut trees to pick and drop the coconuts from above to break them up and crawl down to eat. If the coconut does not break, they will complement themselves with giant and hardened steel.
