How to Install IBM SPSS Statistics 31 on Windows or macOS

Install IBM SPSS Statistics only from IBM or an authorized university or employer portal. The current IBM documentation covers SPSS Statistics 31 for 64-bit Windows and macOS. You need administrator access plus the IBMid, authorization code, or concurrent-license details assigned to your entitlement. A “free” archive that asks you to disconnect from the internet or bypass licensing is not a safe installer.

Choose the correct SPSS license and installer

SPSS installation and activation depend on the license your organization purchased:

• Subscription or SPSS Statistics Digital: activation normally uses the IBMid associated with the subscription.
• Authorized user license: the computer is activated with an authorization code through the License Authorization Wizard.
• Concurrent user license: the installation obtains a license from your organization's license manager. Ask the administrator for the server details and connection requirements.
• Trial: register through IBM and install it promptly because the evaluation period starts when registration is completed.

1. Sign in to macOS with an administrator account and close any running SPSS application.

6. Test required extensions and automation on copies before using the new version for production research.

If your work must be reproducible, keep the original syntax and record the SPSS version and modules used. A file opening successfully does not prove that every extension or analysis produces identical output across releases.

Activation and installation problems

The authorization code is rejected

Confirm that the code belongs to the installed version and license type, that it has not exceeded its permitted activations, and that the system clock is correct. The installer requires administrator rights

A previous version or extension causes errors
