Counter-Strike 2 is officially available on Steam
Counter-Strike, the world-famous first-person shooter (FPS) game series for decades, has finally officially released its second version - Counter-Strike 2 on the PC platform.
Valve has confirmed that Counter-Strike 2 is currently being deployed for free on Steam, limited testing has begun and a series of improvements and additional features.
Counter-Strike 2 is built on Valve's new Source 2 Engine, taking advantage of new graphics APIs, giving the game much-needed innovation with improvements to audio, user interface, and more. including realistic physics-based rendering. The CS ranking system has also been updated with global and regional rankings.
Counter-Strike 2 can now be downloaded from Steam. Notably, this is a free upgrade for all CS:GO players, and in case players already have CS:GO on PC, it will be changed to Counter-Strike 2 in their Steam library. In addition, Valve also allows players to transfer their inventory from CS:GO completely free of charge.
For newcomers, Coutner-Strike 2 is still free to play on Steam. The game has a download size of 28GB. Minimum PC requirements to run CS 2 are Intel Core i5 750 or higher, 1GB or higher video card or DirectX 11 compatible, 8GB RAM, Windows 11, and 85GB available storage. However, it remains to be seen whether the game will be available with macOS.
As a free upgrade to CS:GO, Counter-Strike 2 is expected to be a major technical leap in Counter-Strike history, one of the best games of all time.
