Thunderbolt is the peripheral connectivity technology standard developed by Intel and Apple. This technology allows data transfer speeds far beyond the current USB 3.0 standard. At the same time, Thunderbolt also makes connecting multiple devices at the same time high speed.
This technology takes advantage of both DisplayPort and PCI-Express data protocols into a single connection port that can be used for many different purposes while ensuring speed. This allows data transfer with maximum speed on at most seven Thunderbolt-enabled devices connected in a "daisy chain" style .
