AMD's next-gen 'Granite Ridge' CPUs are about to enter mass production, AM5 platform later this year

AMD's next-generation Ryzen CPUs, expected to be codenamed Granite Ridge and powered by the Zen 5 core architecture, are said to be about to enter mass production in time for a market launch this fall. shopping later this year.

The new Ryzen CPU line will be oriented by AMD as a landmark generation due to the switch to using a completely new Zen architecture. Notably, as revealed by technology blogger @Kepler_L2, the Ryzen "Granite Ridge" series is being mass produced and AMD will decide if they want to quickly enter the market and launch these chips at Computex event after the product launch in the third or fourth quarter of this year.

In terms of compatibility, users purchasing the AM5 platform will be able to rest assured of compatibility with next-generation AMD Ryzen CPUs. AMD has committed to a 2025+ plan for its AM5 socket, and as we saw on the AM4 platform, AMD has supported its CPU platforms much longer than Intel. The Zen 5 core architecture will also be available on the next generation laptop processor line codenamed Strix Point. AMD will likely release this CPU line in 2025.
