Price: About 949USD
Score: 83.
Rating: Very good
The laptop's configuration is quite powerful with the Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 dual-core chip clocked at 2.26GHz. Compact screen 12.1 inches but has a wide-angle format, suitable for you to enjoy HD movies with the best quality. Hard drive capacity is quite good with 160GB. Estimated weight: 2.07 kg.
The outstanding advantage of the TravelMate 6293 is its "overwhelming" battery life: running continuously for 8 hours, longer than any other Top 10 "versatile" laptop model.
The speed of TravelMate is also very fast, though not as shocking as the battery. But due to the lack of a dedicated graphics card, and limited video memory, fans of the game will not be satisfied.
12.1-inch screen has a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, sharp, relatively bright but slightly glossy. Even so, it won't hurt your eyes in office lighting.
The keyboard of the TravelMate 6293 is very logical and scientific. Located on the top are 7 quick-start keys which are very convenient. All are pre-programmed to fulfill requirements such as setting a password for the system, backing up backup data, activating email programs and Web browsers. Editing on the keyboard is also easy and doesn't hurt. The touchpad is small but very responsive and easy to use.
The biggest drawback of this laptop model is its weight. If you add an extra charge, the total weight will reach 5.4 pounds (2.43 kg). But anyway, compared to other all-in-one machines, the TravelMate 6293 is only the average heavyweight.
And to squeeze the price to the maximum, Acer decided to cut a FireWire port (very handy when you want to download quickly) and use the old PC Card reader slot, instead of the modern ExpressCard slot.
Anyway, those minor shortcomings do not affect much. You still have ethernet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11n, standard DVD recorder and integrated Webcam. Memory capacity can be easily expanded if you want.
2. Micro Express JHL9050
Price: About 1199 USD
Scoring: 83
Rating: Very good
The basic configuration of the JHL9050 includes a Core 2 Duo T9550 dual-core chip, clocked at 2.66 GHz. Compared to the TravelMate 6293, the JHL9050's screen size is larger (15.6 inches) and also has a wide-angle format. The hard drive capacity is twice as big as the competition (320GB), but the weight of the device can make you panic: 5.9 pounds (about 2.7 kg).
The appearance of the JHL9050 may not be outstanding, but the reasonable price plus impressive speed will make it impossible to consider.
The JHL9050 is equipped with Windows Vista Business operating system, 3GB RAM and ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 512 MB graphics card, which allows you to satisfy your gaming needs somewhat. For example, the game Tournament 3 will reach 65 frames per second when running on 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.
Only the battery life of the JHL9050 is not very impressive. During PCWorld's test, it only ran for 3 hours and 23 minutes for a single charge. The keyboard is a bit small, but typing is still quite easy.
With the JHL9050, you will be equipped with Webcam, 4 USB ports, VGA and HDMI ports, an SD Card reader and ExpressCard card slot. It is also worth noting that Blu-ray players, biometric fingerprint readers and a convenient feature allow you to charge USB devices even when the laptop is off.
In short, Micro Express has proved that looks are not all. The JHL9050 is a solid, productive notebook that can "burn" a lot more beautiful competitors.
3. Gateway UC7807u
Source: PCW
Price: 800 USD
Scoring: 81
Rating: Very good
Like the two models above, the Gateway UC7807u is equipped with a Core 2 Duo dual-core chip, with only its lower speed (2-GHz). The screen is medium sized (13.3 inches), quite sharp and bright, wide-angle, but catches the ball. Comes with a 250GB hard drive. Weight of 5.3 pounds, equivalent to 2.4 kg).
If you look closely, you will find that the design of the machine is borrowed a little from HP (keyboard), a little from Sony (coupling) and a little from Panasonic (touchpad). In addition to not being able to play "heavy" games and battery life of only 3 hours and 36 minutes, UC7807c's features are above average.
The keyboard of the device is designed with large, spacious and flat buttons, very easy to type. Just like HP's Mini 1000 series, even the touch keyboard becomes easy to breathe. Built-in keyboard shortcuts are also very convenient.
Overall, the UC7807c feature is only a range of full range. Moreover, it also gets points thanks to the price of 800 USD, so cheap compared to a laptop all in one.
4. HP Pavilion dv3
Source: Laptopguru
Price: About 888 USD
Scoring: 81
Rating: Very good
Pavilion dv3 uses AMD's dual-core Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-84 processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz. Like the Gateway UC7807, it has a 13.3-inch wide-angle screen, but the larger hard drive is 320GB. Its weight is quite light compared to competitors in the Top 10: 4.7 pounds (equivalent to 2.11 kg).
This laptop design is very reasonable, stylish enough, quite powerful and possesses attractive price: 888 USD.
The configuration of the Pavilion dv3 is just enough to run the 64-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium, not the monumental and excellent. At first glance, the dv3 and Gateway UC7870u have quite a few similarities, except the latter is heavier than 0.5kg. However, due to the use of AMD chips, although the CPU speed is higher (2.3 GHz), dv3 loses to Gateway in terms of performance.
The dv3's battery life, though, is quite outstanding for 5 hours and 24 minutes (almost two hours longer than UC7870u). With a display resolution of up to 1280x800 pixels, the screen is coated with an anti-gloss material.
Feature list of long-lasting machines: two HDMI and VGA video outputs, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB / eSATA hybrid port (perfect for high-speed data transmission), a PC Express Card reader slot, a flash-card, ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n reader and Bluetooth.
This is not including DVD recorders and large hard drives. Even so, HP successfully crams them into a rather slender body (2.54 cm thick) and is quite light.
5. Samsung R610-64G
Source: Buy
Price: 899 USD
Scoring: 80
Rating: Very good
On the outside, Samsung R610 is quite promising with large screen (16 inch) wide angle, 250GB hard drive and attractive price. However, the quality of the screen can disappoint you and is a factor that hampers this model's consumption.
In terms of configuration, the R610 is equipped with an Intel T7250 processor with 2GHz speed, 3GB DDR2800 RAM and a 512MB GeForce Go 9200GS video card from nVidia. But it can only display 16 frames per second of heavy games like Enemy Territory, Quake Wars and UT 3. Even at a very low resolution of 720 x 480 pixels, the screen still "shakes" when it comes to displaying too much of the game's content.
Battery life, as usual for Samsung products, is quite short with approximately 3 hours of continuous running. The surface of the machine is glossy and stylish, anti-scratch, sweat, dirt and fingerprints. The keyboard is comfortable and easy to use, but there are no dedicated keys for controlling media features.
In short, the Samsung R610 is pretty much limited, but if you are willing to invest in upgrading the screen or without asking too much about images, this laptop model is still worth considering. Moreover, its price is cheaper than Dell's XPS Studio 6 or HP's HDX16.
6. Gateway MC7803u
Source: Thinklaptops
Price: 999 USD
Score: 78
Good review
Configuration: This machine promises many attractive entertainment features, reasonable prices. But if you have strict requirements in terms of performance, the MC7803u will be a bit exhausted.
The first thing to mention is that the appearance of MC7803u looks luxurious, "noble" and much more expensive than its actual selling price. No need to be genius, you can guess: Gateway will be forced to cut many features and details in the configuration to offset the cost.
The system is equipped with a Core 2 Duo T5800 dual-core chip, Intel's 2 GHz speed, plus 4GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 3650 512MB graphics chip. Even so, the MC7803u is still powerless to satisfy gamers at a moderate level, displaying images at medium resolution but still getting jerky and slow.
Regarding battery life, MC7803u is pretty good with 3 hours, 48 minutes running continuously (this is an acceptable time for 16-inch screen machines). Screen quality, however, is not very good. It has problems displaying light and colors in high resolutions.
With MC7803u, you get a total of 4 USB ports, VGA and HDMI outputs, modem / ethernet connectivity, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11n. There is also a memory card reader, 2 headphone jacks and a mic jack on the front, along with the webcam on the screen. However, don't try to search for eSATA, FireWire or Blu-ray ports here.
The sound quality, unfortunately, was sacrificed by Gateway to lower the price. Because the machine does not have a woofer, it sounds very "sour", lacking in depth.
Finally, with a thickness of up to 48mm and a weight of up to 8.8 pounds (including battery charging) - you won't want to carry this machine anywhere.
7. Samsung X460-44P
Source: PCMag
Price: 1600 USD
Score: 77
Good review
Samsung has reopened its offensive campaign into the US laptop market with a formidable competitor, even with the luxury ultraportable laptops, not just at the all-in-one laptop segment.
Owning a very stylish, stylish and stylish design, the X460-44P is equipped with a 14.1-inch screen, ultra-thin and very light, not bulky and heavy like the Gateway MC7803u.
Spending $ 1600 and you will have a strong system in hand: dual-core Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 CPU 2.26 Ghz, 3GB RAM and nVidia GeForce 9200 GS graphics chip 256MB. Although this is not the best chip for graphics power, it still gives you a "better" image quality than an ultraportable laptop.
Battery life is also quite good: run continuously for 4.5 hours. Just 3 cm thick and weighs 4.2 pounds (about half as light as the Gateway MC7803u), you won't be afraid to carry the X460 with you on your trips. The casing is sturdy, firm, not afraid to bump.
You will be equipped with a lot of connectors, from VGA, HDMI, ethernet, modem, 802.11n Wi-Fi to Bluetooth. On the sides are three USB ports, a 5-in-1 flash card reader, a PC Express card slot and headphone / mic jack. Finally there is a 1.3-dot webcam and fingerprint reader.
The 14.1-inch LED screen of the device is particularly bright, sharp and displays colors very vividly. You can view the screen in any lighting conditions, whether indoors or outdoors without eye strain.
Even the sound of the X460 is fine, despite the absence of a subwoofer. The volume may pop up loud enough so that you don't have to listen to music with headphones.
8. Lenovo ThinkPad T400
Source: Techarena
Sales: 1419 USD
Score: 77
Good review
Compared to laptop models for the purpose of guarding, the Lenovo T400 has a long battery life, excellent software list and very reasonable price.
In terms of performance, the ThinkPad T400 is slightly better than the Acer TravelMate 6293 in the luxury all-in-one laptop group. The applications are tightly packed inside a 7200-rpm hard drive, 160GB capacity. The system uses Intel Core 2 Duo dual-core processor with speed of 2.53 Ghz T9400, comes with 2GB RAM and ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3400 graphics chip.
However, you should not expect too much in the "graphic capabilities" of the machine. In PCWorld's test, game graphics were pretty bad. However, you should not be too surprised by T400 which is designed for professional purposes only.
The 14.1-inch LED screen of the device has a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, does not strain the eyes even in bright conditions. The 9-core battery pack is quite heavy and bulky, but after enjoying up to 8 hours of continuous use for each charge, you'll find yourself tolerant enough to ignore all the drawbacks.
The keyboard is typical of Lenovo's design style, easy to use, comfortable and spacious. The keyboard shortcut is also worth noting with the text zoom key, the ThinkLight key activates the LED right on the screen, allowing you to position the keys in low light.
The basic features of the laptop are all converged in the T400, from webcams, DVD / CD recorders, outputs for VGA and Express Card memory slots. You will also find here Bluetooth, 3 USB ports, FireWire ports and mic / headphone jacks or 802.11n Wi-Fi.
New security software is preinstalled in the device along with a fingerprint reader. ThinkVantage application package serves you common tasks such as setting up wireless connection, managing power consumption settings, copying data backup or customizing security configuration .
In short, the T400 is a great choice, based on design elements, applications, performance and features. Even if its price is a little bit beyond your reach.
9. Lenovo IdeaPad Y650
Source: Techfresh
Price: 1299 USD
Score: 77
Good review
This is a machine suitable for both home and office environments, versatile, large screen but still light enough for you to carry around.
At first glance, IdeaPad Y650 has a lot of "sexy" features like a 16-inch LCD screen and "giant" hard drive. So the new manufacturer does not hesitate to advertise this as "mobile entertainment center". However, if you try it, you will not see the image quality as expected.
Components of the Y650 are powerful with Intel P8600 Core 2 Duo dual-core chips with 2.4 Ghz speed, 3G RAM DDR3 11066 MHz, 320GB hard drives and running 32-bit versions of Windows Vista Home Premium. The Y650 has shown a very good performance in PCWorld's performance test, but suddenly fell off at the graphics competency test. This is a critical disadvantage, considering the "title" that Y650 strives to achieve.
The Y650's display is obviously large, good lighting, color display is vivid and sharp enough. Your eyes are still comfortable looking at the screen for a long time. However, the resolution is quite low (1366x768 pixels) that Lenovo chooses for a 16-inch screen is desirable. Worse, Lenovo does not allow users to upgrade to higher resolution screens (1920 x 1080 pixels).
The list of Y650 data inputs is quite short: an ethernet port, an ExpressCard card slot, an eSATA connection, two USB ports, a 6-in-1 flash card reader, microphone / headphone jack, HDMI output and VGA.
The device is equipped with a webcam for chat and face recognition features. This security mechanism works quite well, but it takes up to 45 seconds to recognize the contours on your face, depending on lighting conditions.
Not to mention the quality of the excellent Y650 speaker system. Unless you require too much "pro" sound, if not, you will end up Y650. However, the approximate price of 1300 USD of the device is slightly "too much".
10. MSI GT627
Source: Devicedaily
Price: 1150 USd
Score: 77
Good review
MSI GT627 gives you a lot of features inside a compact design, but the limitations of the keyboard and screen have affected some of its appeal.
In terms of appearance, GT627 "resides" inside the elegant black aluminum shell, with a red border adorned around. This design proved quite eye-catching and fashionable.
Targeting the popular gaming laptop market, GT627's hardware configuration is quite impressive in theory. First of all, the Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 dual-core 2.26 GHz chip, comes with 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive and an nVidia GeForce 9800M graphics chip.
The ability to display game images of the machine is quite good compared to the versatile laptops of the same class. Only that, the battery life is too "shocking": only 2 hours 20 minutes per charge, ie shorter than almost all rival models up to an hour.
GT627's 15.4-inch screen also displays colors quite well, but the top view is slightly poor. With a popular notebook model, which is sold at half price, the resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels is reasonable. But for a gaming laptop that sells for more than $ 1100, the minimum resolution should be 1440 x 900 pixels.
Another feature that is not friendly to gamers at all is that the design of common keys like Blackspace, Entert and Shift is unreasonable. They are much smaller than they should be, making it difficult to control the game. You easily make mistakes by typing the wrong keys.
Finally, you will be equipped with a 2-dot webcam, stereo speakers (though the sound is quite thin and small). Fortunately, the built-in Dolby Control Center software will make a little difference.
