Zotob.B causes many computer carriers to fail
The new Zotob virus variant , discovered by security vendor Trend Micro on August 15, has affected a number of systems of CNN, ABC News and The News York Times .
The CNN , instead of the usual broadcast program, had to announce that their PCs using Microsoft Windows 2000 operating systems were deeply infected and repeatedly started.
The News York Times also confirmed that they are facing a system outage."We cannot determine the cause. It happened today and hopefully it does not affect the paper production process," Catherine Mathis, a newspaper spokesman, said yesterday.
ABC News has just announced a system error.
"We don't see a lot of obvious expressions during the day," Microsoft spokesman said."Perhaps only a small number of customers affected".
Zotob.B worm exploits vulnerabilities in Windows 98 / ME / 2000 / XP operating systems. This spread shows that althoughMicrosoftpatcheshave been released for more than a week, users still have almost no interest and are slow to upgrade.
Experimental (according to ABC )
