According to a new announcement by TikTok, some of the world's top music streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music have just added a brand new feature called "Share to TikTok". As the name suggests, this feature allows Spotify and Apple Music users to easily share songs, playlists, audiobooks, and more directly on the TikTok platform.

The feature essentially works similarly to how music streaming platforms can share songs directly on Instagram Stories. TikTok lets you choose whether you want to share a Spotify track as a photo, video, or Story post. Viewers can click on the song, navigate to the respective platform where the song is shared, and listen to it on their device.

'Share to TikTok' gives streaming music service (DSP) users the ability to share their favorite music, podcasts, and audiobooks to TikTok, directly from the DSP's share menu.

Users can choose to share their favorite content in two different ways:

  1. Post to your TikTok Feed (FYP or Story) by sharing tracks, albums, playlists, podcasts, or audiobooks using TikTok's popular green screen feature or Photo Mode.
  2. Direct messages via TikTok Messages allow users to send their friends the music, podcasts, and audiobooks they want.

Previously, if you wanted to share a playlist on TikTok, for example, you had to send the link via message or post it in the comments. TikTok also makes it difficult to navigate outside the app, as pasted links are not clickable. Note that Spotify has also announced a similar music sharing integration for Instagram.

TikTok is a popular platform for discovering and sharing audio, but the company recently announced that it will be shutting down its TikTok Music platform at the end of this month, a project that could be considered a failure.
