Xiaomi's AI virtual assistant can recommend recipes based on images of ingredients
Silently, without fanfare, Xiaomi has been developing a general artificial intelligence model called XiaoAI for some time, and is achieving impressive initial success.
XiaoAI has reached more than 100 million monthly active registered users since August 2021, and continuously maintains a 'slow but steady' growth momentum. Recently, XiaoAI was upgraded to version V6.126, bringing users a series of interesting features. Outstanding among them is the ability to edit images based on AI. Includes a total of 5 features that support converting image background and object type in the photo.
The image background transformation feature allows users to upload photos to XiaoAI and make changes to elements in the photo's background, as shown in the illustration below. Notably, this is not a completely new feature from Xiaomi. Some older Xiaomi phone models also have the ability to change the sky and overall lighting effects of the image. However, the efficiency XiaoAI brings is expected to be much better.
Another interesting new ability added on XiaoAI is being able to answer questions based on shared images. The model is now capable of generating recipes based solely on images of available ingredients shared by users. In addition, users can also ask AI to create recipes that help them achieve certain goals, such as losing weight.
Another newly added utility related to photo editing is the ability to change the style of the image, as shown in the illustration below.
As mentioned, another feature of the latest version of XiaoAI is the ability to remove unwanted objects or pedestrians from images. This is similar to what Google offers with Pixel devices.
XiaoAI is currently only available to Xiaomi phone users who update to the latest MIUI versions for the Chinese market (domestic ROM). Furthermore, Xiaomi's virtual assistant currently only supports Chinese. Therefore, this will be a big barrier for users in other markets to access this virtual assistant.
