Xiaomi launches a projector running Android TV, integrated with Google Assistant

Xiaomi Mi Smart Compact Projector is one of the few models running Android TV operating system available on the market today.

On March 24, Xiaomi launched a new projector model during the launch of the Redmi Note 9S in Malaysia, fully known as the Mi Smart Compact Projector. As expected, the product will be officially on shelves from 20/4 with a retail price of 1899 MYR (about 9.96 million).

The Mi Smart Compact Projector has a physical dimensions of 150mm x 115mm and weighs 1.3kg, which looks more like a bluetooth speaker than a projector. This is also understandable, because it is integrated with two 5W speakers with large sound chamber inside, supports decoding Dolby Audio and DTS HD.

Speaking of slideshows, Xiaomi's new projector supports 1080p (Full HD) resolution but is also capable of playing 4K content. It uses a four-channel RGB LED system with an average brightness of 500 ANSI Lumen, 85% NTSC wide color gamut, and supports HDR as well.

In addition, the product is also equipped with a high-sensitivity camera to autofocus at startup, ensuring the image displayed on the projection screen is always clear and sharp. Of course, users can also customize to manually focus manually if desired.

Mi Smart Compact Projector has a 1.2: 1 throw ratio, suitable for projecting images onto 60 to 120 inch projection screens. However, it can also display a clear image with a screen in the range of 40 to 200 inches. According to the manufacturer's announcement, LEDs used in projectors have a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours.

Mi Smart Compact Projector is equipped with Amlogic T962-X processor, paired with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB eMMC internal memory. The product comes pre-installed with Android TV 9.0 Pie operating system, can easily install essential applications through the Google Play Store.

In terms of connectivity, Xiaomi's new projector has a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 2.0 port, HDMI port and Bluetooth support. Last but not least, users are also given a remote control with a minimalist design, built-in microphone for voice control via the Google Assistant virtual assistant.
