A UNICEF report said that toxic air seriously affects the development of young brains and can cause permanent damage to their brains.
The report mentioned that toxic air can also lead to anxiety disorders and can affect IQ levels as well as memory patterns in children.
Serious air pollution can also lead to other neurological disorders such as attention-focused disorder (ADDD).
This finding comes at a time when India, especially in the North, is facing a serious crisis due to increasing pollution.
Last month, Delhi school had to temporarily shut down to reduce children's exposure to pollutants that had covered the capital.
The level of air pollution was statistically 10 points beyond the safe zone.
The UNICEF report also stated that South Asia has the highest rate of children living in areas with high air pollution at least six times higher than the international limit (10 micrograms per cubic meter).
