Solid Snake from Metal Gear is the badass smoker in the gaming history but eventually, he turned to an e-cigarette, and such devices can be bought from smokingthings. Adam Jensen from Deus Ex

We think that in the future, smoking would be illegal everywhere. But in the Deus Ex universe, everyone is still bad to the bone, as we like it. The protagonist, Adam Jensen, is a smoker and also a drinker. No wonder if you consider a stressful life and being adopted and all. He lost his humanity, his lover, and his dog, it's quite depressing. Besides, he can crush skulls with his mechanical arm so, he is unstoppable.

Adam has got some body modifications that making one of the best smokers in gaming history. He has got an implanted rebreather in his chest, basically a gas mask that filters toxins from the air he breathes. It also allows him to have an extra reserve of oxygen in his blood so he doesn't fatigue as fast.

Duke Nuken from Duke Nuken

He's politically incorrect, he is from the Stone Age, and he totally beats up his rivals. It's hard to see who smokes the bigger cigars between Duke Nukem or Avery Johnson from Halo. Only by the third game, he had built enough confidence to really find his voice. Duke is just a cool smoker because he embraces being politically incorrect and the cigar is just the cherry on top.

Manny from Grim Fandango

It is a game that's so good that we could even give the excessive smoking in this game a pass for how artistic it is. Manuel 'Manny' Calavera is a skeleton trapped in the land of the dead. Instead of buying his way, into the land of eternal rest, he has decided to work is a standoff as a travel agent.

So, we can't imagine why Manny smokes being dead and all but how does he do it? He has no lungs he might not even be able to enjoy the rush of nicotine but on the other hand, the only negative effect he gets from smoking is his ribs getting yellow, and besides, he's already dead so he doesn't care at all.

However, the game manual for Grim Fandango does a reference to smoking in the game and asks players to consider that every smoker in the game is already dead.
