TikTok Launches AI Alive, Its Latest AI-Powered Photo Video Creation Tool

TikTok has just announced TikTok AI Alive, a brand new feature built into TikTok Stories that allows users to turn still photos into short animated videos. This functionality is essentially similar to the recent photo-to-video conversion capabilities rolled out by Character.AI through its AvatarFX tool. Both services allow creators to upload a photo and use artificial intelligence to make it move and animate.

 

With AI Alive, the core idea is to make visual storytelling simpler and more 'live.' Users start by selecting a still photo from their Story Album via the TikTok Story Camera. Tapping the AI ​​Alive icon will activate the feature to animate the image. AI Alive is praised for allowing creators to easily transform an original composition, such as a peaceful sunset photo, into a scene with gradually changing sky colors, or animate a group photo to give the feeling of a vivid memory. TikTok's idea with AI Alive is to empower anyone to become a creator if they want to.

 

To prevent abuse, TikTok uses moderation technology to review uploaded images and any instructions from users before the animated video is even shown. There is a final safety check process before the video is approved for posting to Stories.

As with other content, users in the community can easily report videos they believe violate TikTok's rules. Additionally, TikTok ensures that all stories created by AI Alive are clearly labeled as AI-generated, increasing transparency. The feature also embeds C2PA metadata, a technology designed to help others identify an AI-generated video even if it's downloaded and shared off the platform.

AI Alive is TikTok's latest move in the AI-generated content race, following the success of the AI ​​Greenscreen and AI Song features.
