Lenovo has built the first laptop laptop that can be controlled visually based on Tobii 's eye tracking technology. The prototype of this product is displayed at the CeBIT Exhibition in Hanover (Germany) this week.

While most manufacturers are focused on creating products with more natural interfaces, the Lenovo-Tobii for the first time has made users dependent on their eyes. Just use eye movement, users can specify, select and move pages on the laptop screen. However, this technology is not intended to replace mice and keyboards but helps users to control the computer more without having to rely on keyboards and mice today.

Users can glance at an icon, then the computer will display more information. Users can enlarge photos or maps and automatically focus on what they are looking at. Computers can also brighten the screen when they find users trying to focus on them and automatically dim to save battery power when users take their eyes off the screen. Tobii said the eye-control technology could allow users to quickly switch between windows, read e-mails and review documents.

Roger Kay, a leading analyst with Endpoint Technologies Associates, said that the product could be immediately applied to users with paralyzed hands. However, the product is also great for ordinary people who want to rest their hands when they want to use their eyes to control the device.

Currently, Tobii has not provided any specific use of this technology. There are currently 20 products produced. Tobii and Lenovo each have 10 products to develop and perform for their purpose. Eskilsson - Tobii's CEO believes that eye-controlled PCs may appear popular in the market in the next two years.
