Sony unveils pair of lenses capable of continuous focus when shooting 4K
This new pair of lenses from Sony has high resolution combined with maximum bokeh blur at F2.8 aperture.
Sony has just released the two newest members of its E-mount full-frame lens lineup, the FE 16-25mm 2.8 G (SEL1625G) and FE 24-50mm (SEL2450G). Featuring a compact design, the new lens duo achieves high resolution combined with maximum bokeh blur at F2.8 aperture.

Weighing in at just 409g, the new Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 lens is 74.8mm in diameter, 91.4mm long, and 67mm filter compatible. This makes the lens highly portable, suitable for everyday use, and offers the exaggerated perspective effect that can only be found at wide focal lengths.
By arranging three ED (Extra-Dispersion) lenses and four aspherical lenses (including one Extra-Dispersion aspherical lens), aberrations are reduced to a minimum. This allows the lens to achieve high resolution across the entire frame. The 11-blade diaphragm and the reduction of aberrations help create a more beautiful bokeh effect. The minimum focusing distance on this lens is 0.18m and the maximum magnification is 0.20x.
Sony equips the FE 16-25mm F2.8 G with two linear motors, compatible with the A9 III body, supporting 120fps continuous shooting while maintaining AF/AE (autofocus/autoexposure). Continuous focusing capability works even when shooting high frame rates 4K (120p) / Full HD (240p).
Sony's new lens supports focus breathing, optimized for movie shooting. When paired with a compatible camera body, users can activate Active Mode for enhanced performance. Functionality also includes a focus hold button, aperture ring, aperture ring click switch, and mode switch. The entire lens is dust and moisture resistant, with a fluorine coating that repels dust from adhering to the lens surface.
Meanwhile, the Sony FE 24-50mm F2.8 G lens covers the focal range from 24mm to 50mm, with the lens size kept small at 74.8mm in diameter, 92.3mm in length, and 67mm filter compatible. Weight is around 440g.
Sharpness and detail across the focal length are achieved by an arrangement of four aspherical elements and two ED (Extra-Dispersion) elements, which eliminate aberrations such as purple fringing to ensure high resolution across the entire frame. The FE 24-50mm uses an 11-blade aperture system optimized for aberration to create a bokeh effect. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.19mm (when autofocusing) at the widest focal length and a maximum magnification of 0.30x (when autofocusing).
The lens is also equipped with two linear motors that enable autofocus. The lens also supports high-speed shooting at 120 fps with full AF/AE capabilities on the Alpha 9 III full-frame mirrorless camera. For users who need to shoot high-quality video, AF tracking is available in 4K (120p) or Full HD (240p) high-resolution formats and frame rates.
Manual focusing is also easier thanks to linear feedback. Sony has added convenience to the lens body with a focus hold button, aperture ring, aperture ring click mode on/off switch, and focus mode switch. And that's not all, the dust- and moisture-resistant design combined with a fluorine coating helps prevent dust from sticking to the lens surface.
The Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 G and Sony FE 24-50mm F2.8 G lens duo have reference prices of 32.99 million VND and 29.99 million VND respectively.
