Sony PSVR 2 PC Adapter will be released this August

Sony is now bringing PSVR 2 to PC with the brand new launch of the PSVR 2 PC Adapter.

Sony has gradually shifted its focus to PCs. Previously it was God of War Ragnarok PC and now there is even more exciting news.

The PSVR 2 PC Adapter, announced in a Sony blog post, will allow you to connect your PSVR 2 to your PC and play all Steam VR games, including Half-Life: Alyx, Boneworks VR, etc. It will cost $59.99 (about VND 1.5 million) and launch at select retailers on August 7, 2024.

However, PSVR 2 will not bring all the features that PS5 owners are used to. Key features like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers on VR controllers, and haptic feedback are not available when using a headset on PC.

However, you can use the headset in 4K mode and take advantage of the 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and see-through view. Enhanced rendering (no eye tracking) and 3D audio support in select games will also be available.

So that cuts the PSVR 2's usable features in half when used on PC. Perhaps Sony still wants gamers to try the headset on the console itself. On the other hand, skipping these features wouldn't make much sense unless they don't plan to add these supports to PC headsets in the future.

PSVR 2 PC system requirements

Besides this exciting news and some missing features, Sony also detailed the system requirements to run VR headsets on PC. Check them out to see if you're prepared:

Ingredient Request
Operating system Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit
Processor Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100
RAM 8 GB or more
GPU/Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or better / AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or better

Even though they don't own PSVR 2, many people are quite excited about this news. Because, if nothing changes, this will contribute to blurring the lines between the PC and console worlds! Will you try PSVR 2 on PC? Share your opinions in the comments section below!
