Smartphone with up to 48MP resolution camera will be released next year thanks to new image sensor technology
4 and 5 camera smartphones have appeared and perhaps the number of cameras will be the smartphone design trend in 2019. But to maintain impressive design and style, manufacturers must find solutions. Minimize the camera to be able to integrate on the most number. And Samsung's new ISOCELL Bright sensor technology can solve this problem, the image sensor is minimized to the size but can still provide high-resolution images.
ISOCELL Bright GM1 has a resolution of 48MP and ISOCELL Bright GD1 has a resolution of 32MP, but the sensor pair is only about 0.8 micrometer in size. As a result, manufacturers can maximize flexible layout space.
Earlier, Samsung also introduced micrometer-sized sensors in 2015. And by 2017, the size of image sensors has dropped to just 0.9 micrometers.
Both sensors are equipped with ISOCELL Plus technology by Samsung, which allows optimized performance on small pixels. In addition, there is Tetracell technology that allows 4 physical pixels to be merged into one large pixel to reduce noise when shooting in low light.
According to Samsung, the company's new image sensor duo can provide night results equivalent to a 12MP and 8MP resolution sensor with a pixel size of 1.6 micrometers.
In addition, Samsung also incorporates electronic anti-vibration technology for both its new sensors. In particular, the GD1 sensor has a built-in high range dynamic range that provides richer color and detail reproduction.
Starting in Q4 / 2018, Samsung will start producing a series of 2 new image sensors and integrate it into many smartphones launched in early 2019. That means users can own the smartphones available. Super resolution camera up to 48MP next year.
