Samsung announced the new LPDDR5X memory chip with extremely fast speed and excellent energy saving capabilities
Samsung continues to demonstrate its leading position in the global DRAM memory market when it has just officially launched the new generation LPDDR5X chip line with improved performance, higher capacity and significantly reduced energy consumption. The South Korean tech giant claims the new generation of chips aims to bring higher performance and reliability to PCs, mobile devices, cars, servers and many other core industrial products.
Samsung's latest LDDR5X memory series is manufactured on a 12nm process, delivering the smallest chip size among LPDDR solutions currently on the market. These chips can operate at speeds of up to 10.7Gbps, which equates to a 25% performance improvement over the previous generation. In addition, the company also increased capacity by 30%, up to 32GB in a single package. According to Samsung, the upgrade helps its new memory chip line become "the optimal solution for the AI era on devices that require high-performance memory, high capacity and low power consumption".
In particular, LPDDR5X incorporates specialized energy-saving technologies such as optimal power variation that adjusts power according to workload and extends the period of time in low power mode, helping to extend the time energy saving. These improvements improve energy efficiency by 25% over the previous generation, enable mobile devices to deliver longer battery life, and enable servers to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by how to reduce energy usage when processing data.
Speaking about the launch of the new product line, Samsung Electronics Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning, YongCheol Bae, said:
As the demand for high-performance, energy-efficient memory increases, LPDDR DRAM will become a versatile solution that can meet a variety of industrial sectors that demand higher performance and reliability. like PCs, accelerators, servers, and cars.
Samsung will continue to innovate and deliver products optimized for the upcoming AI era through close and seamless collaboration with customers.
Samsung will begin production of the new LPDDR5X memory chip line in the second half of this year after they are confirmed by device and processor manufacturing partners.
