Researchers have discovered a new technology that allows phones to be charged via Wi-Fi
Recently, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have come up with a new way to charge devices through radiation in the air, instead of using the wireless charging dock as we usually do. see.

When it comes to wireless charging, we often think of chargers like this
Specifically, this new technology will use Terahertz radiation in the air to charge the device. In the electromagnetic spectrum, Terahertz radiation is located between infrared and microwaves, and this is also the radiation emitted by many electronic devices during use. Typically, Wi-Fi modems will also use this spectrum to transmit signals to connected devices.
In addition, researchers have also created a prototype to introduce the operating principle of this new technology. The prototype consisted of a small Graphene sheet, covered with a layer of boron nitride below, along with two Ariel antennas responsible for absorbing terahertz radiation. These radiations will force the electrons in the Graphene sheet to flow into a stream to produce an electrical signal.

It is possible that our future Wi-Fi modems will play the role of a charging device
An important requirement for this device is that the Graphene sheet must be pure enough, because when the impurities in it are large enough, the electrons will be dispersed instead of being able to flow into currents to generate electricity.
The technology is still in the early stages of testing, so the power that the prototype device can generate is still not strong enough to charge electronic devices. However, the team believes that in the future, this technology has the potential to develop to become a charging technology in our laptops and smartphones.
And maybe in the near future, connecting the device to a Wi-Fi network will not only help us access the Internet, but also help us fully charge our devices.
