Android 11 will make a small but very useful change to wireless charging

With an alert feature if you misplace the smartphone from the dock, this is definitely an improvement worth waiting for on Android 11.

Wireless charging is getting more popular as Apple started supporting wireless charging from iPhone X onwards. While it's hard to deny the benefits of this technology, it's clear that wireless charging still has its inherent disadvantages.

These include slow charging speeds and the need to keep the device on the right cradle. These are clearly annoyances that those who are using wireless charging suffer.

Most of the recent improvements in wireless charging technology involve placing a smartphone on a more convenient charging dock. However, in reality, you still need to adjust the orientation of the phone so that the charger on the back of the device touches the charging dock. Even many people do not even know this and often arbitrarily put the phone on the charging dock and do not check it again. As a result, it may take you an hour, but the device has not reached any percentage of battery life.

But Google understands this and promises to have a solution worth waiting for on Android 11.

A Reddit user named jotafett shared a few things about Android R or Android 11. In particular, this account mentioned that Android 11 will support more convenient wireless charging thanks to a notification.

Of course, the new feature on Android 11 won't automatically align your phone to match the charging dock. But at least it will give a warning to the user, asking them to reset the phone to the right place.

Technically, the phone and the wireless charging protocol are capable of detecting in case of deviations. But how the Android operating system can know that and warn users is unknown. In particular, a simple notification on the screen may not be enough to attract attention to the user.

So we are waiting for Android 11 to issue flashing lights or sounds to let users know how to charge the device properly. Of course, the most expected feature is still wireless charging even when the phone is not in the right dock.
