NVIDIA releases DisplayID firmware update for GeForce RTX 3060 and 3080 Ti GPUs
Evaluation results show that this is a software issue, affecting the DisplayID for the user's screen. NVIDIA immediately confirmed the information and has quietly released a solution to the problem in the form of a forced firmware update.
This fix is essentially a troubleshooting tool similar to the problem NVIDIA had with the ResizableBAR tool, which has now been resolved. The firmware update will immediately impact the vBIOS and fix the bug. In the updated description, NVIDIA says the following:
DisplayID provides enhanced visibility. To ensure compatibility with displays that use DisplayID, you may need to update the firmware for the NVIDIA GPU. If the update is not applied, systems connected to DisplayPort displays using DisplayID may You may experience a blank screen error during startup, and this lasts until the operating system loads. Note that this update should only be applied if you are experiencing a blank display when the system is booting.
NVIDIA GPU Firmware Update Tool will automatically detect and evaluate whether your system is running. Do I need to update the firmware or not? And if necessary, you will be given an option to initiate the update process. If you are currently experiencing a blank screen error, please try one of the following workarounds to run the debugging tool:
- Boot with DVI or HDMI
- Start with a different screen
- Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy
- Boot with an alternate graphics source (additional graphics card or on-chip integrated card)
Once you have successfully downloaded the debugging tool, please run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure all applications are closed before running the tool, and make sure there are no pending OS updates in the background. Applicable products: GeForce RTX 30 series: GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, GeForce RTX 3060
