Mr. Huang said that while CPU transistors grew at a rate of about 50% annually, the efficiency only increased by 10%. It is hard to find a more advanced parallel structure on the CPU, so these processors will soon be replaced by GPUs.
Huang also said that Nvidia's GPU is the perfect solution for AI-based applications, that he believes the GPU is ready to play a bigger role in terms of computing, rather than completely replacing the computer's CPU.
Not surprisingly, Intel disagreed with Mr. Huang's view.
'For 34 years working in the semiconductor industry, I have seen ads for Moore's Law no less than four times. When we go from 14nm to 10nm technology and plan to go to 7nm and 5nm or more, our plan is to prove that Moore's Law still lives and lives well, 'said CEO Brian Krzanich last year.
