NASA began assembling Mars 2020 spacecraft
NASA is carrying out the mission of the Mars 2020 ship because this space agency started the Component, Test and Start phase (ATLO) project at the Trans-Asia Space Processing Facility 1 at the Dynamic Laboratory JPL in Pasadena, California. This stage includes the final stage assembly and the integration of electric components of the engine into the unmanned aerial aircraft on Mars spacecraft.
Mars 2020 is the latest mission ship in NASA's Mars Exploration Program with the main purpose of visiting areas where life could once exist, collecting and analyzing soil and rock samples to find features. biology, chemistry. Some of these samples will be stored for recovery and brought back to Earth for future missions. In addition, the integrated unmanned aircraft will use Mars' nuclear energy research environment to help determine whether the Mars environment is suitable for the next discovery missions.
The design of the vessel may carry an updated version of the Curiosity rover that is currently exploring the surface of Mars. It has the same chassis as the Curiosity train, although with improved wheels with higher durability. Like Curiosity, it will also use a plutonium fuel-powered nuclear generator as the main energy source.
The space agency said that the ship's engine systems were installed and the next 18 months will implement additional electronic systems, electricity, telecommunications, mechanisms, thermal systems, navigation systems. and subsystems. When completed, it will be transported to Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, where it will be placed atop the Atlas V 541 rocket at launch area 41.
