The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann

Madeleine and her family were on holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007 when tragedy struck. While Madeleine's parents were dining at the restaurant in their villa, Madeleine (then nearly four years old) was sleeping in her hotel room.

When Madeleine's parents returned, there was no trace of Madeleine, and investigators have been searching for her ever since.

Assassination of the Swedish Prime Minister

On February 28, 1986, Olof Palme gave his bodyguards the day off. That day, he and his wife, Lisbet, went to the movies, where they met their son and his son's girlfriend.

After the movie, they parted ways and went home, but Olaf never returned.

 

At 11:21 p.m., on Sweden's busiest street, a tall stranger suddenly attacked Olof and Lisbet from behind, shooting them at close range. Although several suspects have been arrested over the years, the perpetrator has never been found.

The Disappearance of the Beaumont Children

On 26 January 1966, the three Beaumont children, Jane (9), Arnna (7) and Grant (4), took a bus to Glenelg beach, where they would stay for a few hours before returning home.

The children were seen playing on the beach with a strange man and were never found again. The strange man playing with the children remains a mystery to this day.

Intruder at the Cape of Good Hope

Residents of Cape Elizabeth, a sleepy town in Maine, USA, will never forget the eerie feeling they had when they went to bed in late 2005, fearing a visit from a man dubbed the Cape Intruder.

His victims would wake up to find him looming over their bed. He didn't break anything or steal anything, he just stood over them, watching them as they slept.

No one was attacked or touched. Although several suspects have been questioned, the identity of the intruder remains unknown.

The Axe Murderer

From May 1918 to October 1919, terror gripped the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

An axe-wielding murderer broke into at least twelve homes and brutally slaughtered residents with his own axe.

On March 13, 1919, he wrote a letter to the newspaper, mentioning his love of jazz and declaring that he would not attack any house that played jazz. That night, the city was filled with music, and no one was killed.

The axe murderer's last victim was on October 27, 1919, and then he disappeared without a trace.
