A giant fossil tooth from an unexpectedly lost prehistoric shark found at a world heritage site in Australia.
This tooth is well preserved, estimated at 2-2.5 million years old and belongs to Megalodon, considered one of the largest and most powerful sharks that ever lived in the ocean.
Arvid Hogstrom from Western Australia's Wildlife Park said: "It has quite obvious characteristics, so you can see the serrated edges of shark teeth, maybe it's one of the samples. Better things ever found '.
This is one of the few fossil specimens of the Megalodon shark found in Ningaloo Coast World Heritage, very few know about its location, its lifetime.
Hogstrom said that his team worked to protect this ancient fossil, about 10 cm (3.93 inches) long, which was concealed in ancient stones.
It is known that prehistoric shark Megalodon can grow body size up to 15 meters, which is a huge size and may be extinct about 1.6 million years ago.
