Linksys' mesh routers can now detect motion using Wifi
Security cameras are fine and good, but what do you do if you really want privacy? Linksys has a solution to this problem with its new Linksys Aware service. They claim to use Wifi mesh to sense the transition without the need for cameras or other hardware. The company currently offers a free 90-day trial, which will then cost $ 2.99 / month or $ 24.99 / year.

The idea of using Wifi to detect motion without using cameras or other sensors is not new. Although Linksys does not specifically describe the technology used, the basic idea is that the router establishes a Wifi signal so it can detect when being hit by moving objects. However, this is the first time this technology has appeared in a retail product.

Once activated, Linksys Aware will notify users when detecting indoor movement through Linksys Smart Wi-Fi app (available on Android and iOS). Users can also control many other aspects of the service through the application such as turning on or off the device, changing the frequency of notifications or adjusting the sensor detection sensitivity. This data will be saved for 60 days.
According to Linksys, you can experience this service today on the Linksys Velop Tri-Band AC2200 router and other future routers.
