The lawsuit was filed in court in Seattle , in which T-Mobile said that Huawei ( China ) employees, formerly a T-Mobile provider, had unauthorized access to the lab. T-Mobile is in Bellevue , stealing components from a smartphone testing robot called Tappy, and copying design details and operating systems. All of these acts violate the signed security agreements of the two companies.

According to the lawsuit, in May 2013, a Huawei employee removed the end of Tappy's arm and " stamped it into a laptop bag before leaving the lab ". The behavior of this employee was recorded by the camera.

T-Mobile did not specify the total amount of damages it wanted to compensate. The above violations of Huawei employees took place in 2012 and 2013.

William Plummer, a representative of the Chinese company, admitted the two employees had acted wrongly and were fired. " Complaints are true," Huawei representatives said. "Huawei respects T-Mobile's litigation and we will cooperate fully with all investigations and court procedures to protect our rights and interests ."

According to T-Mobile , Tappy robots perform tasks on smartphones exactly as humans do. T-Mobile also said that Chinese companies are using this stealing technology to build their own testing robots.

Huawei ( China) is the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, after Samsung and Apple, according to market research firm IDC. Huawei is also one of two Chinese companies described as a national security threat in a report released by the US Senate committee in 2012.
