Gravity Anomaly in Antarctica: Extraterrestrial Super Object Revealed

There is a "hole" in the Earth's gravitational field in Antarctica, called a "negative gravity anomaly." But right in the middle of that area, a mysterious "positive gravity anomaly" has appeared, which has just been determined to be caused by an extraterrestrial attacker.

For many years now, researchers have identified the cause of the positive gravity anomaly in Antarctica as the existence of a large crater, called Wilkes Land.

Initial seismic surveys suggest it is up to 240 km in diameter, hidden deep beneath the permafrost.

Several studies have proposed different scenarios to explain this mysterious crater: A structure created by a volcano, a sedimentary basin, a deeply eroded valley, or an impact crater left by an asteroid.

The most recent evidence has supported the final hypothesis that it is an impact crater.

According to Live Science, a recent study led by Dr. Jaroslav Klokočník from the Institute of Astronomy of the Czech Academy of Sciences shows that Wilkes Land is not completely round but more like a U-shape.

The northern part of the crater is broken up, possibly by plate tectonics 35 million years ago, which separated Oceania and Antarctica.

Parts of the crater now lie across the ocean, as far away as southern Australia, where scientists have found some geological evidence of the impact event.

Therefore, the initial size of this impact crater could be twice as large as initially estimated, with a diameter of up to 510 km.

It's unclear how big the asteroid that hit Earth was, but it was clearly a formidable attacker.

The event is thought to have occurred during a period of solar system fury - about 3.8 to 4.1 billion years ago - when countless asteroids and smaller meteorites repeatedly ploughed through the Earth's surface.

Yet these cataclysmic events are thought to have benefited the ancient world, including adding chemical components to the Earth, possibly including the ingredients that helped life arise and sustain itself.
