Lonar Lake with its distinctive blue color is a sodium carbonate salt lake (Na₂CO₃) in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The lake was formed by a meteorite that fell to Earth 52,000 years ago during the Pleistocene.
It is estimated that this crater is about 1 mile wide, 1,200m in diameter, 100m deep.
Due to the minerals of the basalt volcanoes, the surrounding hardness is maintained, so Lonar still maintains its original size and shape so far.
