After releasing 2 MemoPad 7 and MemoPad 10 tablets to compete with tablets from Google, Asus is planning to launch a next 7 inch tablet version called Fonepad K004 using Intel chips.

Although there is not much information about the Fonepad K004 but the previous leaked information shows that the machine will have the model name ME371MG and the Fonepad brand was discovered through the database from Postel site in Indonesia.

Fonepad is a rather strange name but most likely Asus does not want to get into the difficulties that Padfone and Padfone 2 face when not growing as expected, although Padfone is understood as a product that combines tablet and smartphone.

Fonepad K004 is expected to be equipped with 7 inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, integrated 3 megapixel camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

A notable point in the Fonepad K004 is that it is equipped with SoC processor chip from Intel with the name Atom Z2420 Lexington line, an ideal choice when considering the performance and the ability to save power.

According to leaked information, this FonePad K004 tablet will cost about 265 USD, a price that can be considered acceptable for a 7-inch universal tablet.

Some sources also revealed, Asus Fonepad K004 also integrated phone call feature, something quite strange. However, things will be clearer when Asus introduces it at MWC.
