Facebook quietly developed its own operating system to abandon Android
According to a new report by The Information, Facebook is trying to build a completely new operating system so that its hardware is not subject to Google's control when using the Android operating system. This heavy task was assigned by Facebook to Mark Lucovsky, co-author of Microsoft's Windows NT, and is currently the CEO of Facebook's operating system.
Owning a separate operating system will help Facebook solve many issues such as reducing dependence on Google and Apple, and more freedom in bringing social interactions and privacy deeper into the services of me .
This is not the first time Facebook has tried to reduce its dependence on Apple or Google. Previously, it worked with HTC to build a mobile phone of its own, along with developing a software interface dedicated to it. However, both projects were unsuccessful. In 2013, Facebook also launched a project called Project Oxygen to help them distribute Android apps in the event of being blocked by the Google Play Store. Sharing the same fate with the previous two projects, Project Oxygen also sprayed.
The social media giant is also developing its computer-brain interface, a voice assistant similar to Siri and Alexa, and a set of augmented reality headsets (AR).
