Add knowledge sources to a new agent.
You can add knowledge sources at the agent level while creating your agent. When responding to prompts to create the agent, you can specify the following types of knowledge sources:
- A public website
- SharePoint
After you enter the URL of the knowledge source, your agent will automatically add that knowledge source. For more information, see the article: Creating and deploying agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio .
Add a knowledge source to an existing agent.
After the initial creation process, you can add agent-level knowledge sources from the following areas in Copilot Studio :
- Overview Page
- Knowledge Page
Select Add knowledge to open the Add knowledge dialog box and see the available knowledge source options.
You can add topic-level knowledge sources from the following areas:
- Topic: Conversational Boosting Systems
- A topic containing the Generic Answers node
After adding one of the following knowledge source types, you need to provide a name and description. The name for each source must be unique. The description should be as detailed as possible, especially if Generative AI is enabled, as the description supports generative orchestration.
- Public website
- File upload
- SharePoint
- Dataseat
- AI Search
- Real-time connectors
- Unstructured data
Use suggested knowledge sources.
To access the list of the top 10 recommended knowledge sources for your agent, select See suggestions in the Add knowledge dialog box .
From here, you can explore, search, and add sources:
- Used in one of your previous agents.
- Used in agents shared with you.
- I've used this before when working with Office products.
Select Add to agent to add the selected suggested knowledge sources to your agent. A copy of the knowledge source will become part of the agent.
Note : Currently, suggestions are only available for the following types of knowledge sources:
- File
- SharePoint
- Public website
- Dataverse (the synonym configuration and glossary are retained)
