Early Dimensity 9500 benchmark results leaked: 8-core CPU with low clock speed of 3.23ghz, 12-core Mali-G1 Ultra GPU and more
The official announcement of MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 flagship chip is fast approaching. It's no surprise, then, that the high-end processor has just been spotted in a benchmark test, revealing some interesting specs. However, the latest figures are not up to par, suggesting that the results that are about to be announced are likely just from initial test runs. After a few more tweaks, the Dimensity 9500 is expected to run at full power, giving us a full look at the true capabilities of this flagship chip.
Dimensity 9500 CPU core configuration is different from previous rumors
The newly uploaded Geekbench 6 benchmark results do not provide single-core and multi-core scores for the Dimensity 9500, but instead provide OpenCL scores (which measure graphics/computation performance). The CPU cluster follows a '1 + 3 + 4' structure (1 high-performance core + 3 medium cores + 4 power-saving cores) which is clearly different from the previously rumored '2 + 6' configuration (2 high-performance cores + 6 power-saving cores), suggesting that MediaTek may be testing two different versions of the upcoming chip. Here's what it says:
- 1x Cortex-X930 (Travis core) – maximum clock speed >4GHz 56.
- 3x Cortex-X930 (Alto cores) – lower clocked version 17.
- 4x Cortex-A730 (Gelas cores) – part of the new A7 generation of ARM 12.
- Supports Scalable Matrix Extension (SME) for increased multi-threaded performance
Furthermore, the highest clock speed recorded in the test was only 3.23GHz, while previous rumors claimed the performance cores were running at 4.00GHz.
The engineering sample equipped with the Dimensity 9500 has 16GB of RAM, with additional information indicating that the graphics processor (GPU) is a 12-core Mali-G1 Ultra. While we haven't seen the single- and multi-threaded results of the Dimensity 9500, a previous leak revealed that it could beat the Apple A19 Pro in the multi-core test with a score of over 11,000 points.
The single-core score is estimated at over 3,900 points. MediaTek has applied many changes to the Dimensity 9500 to ensure that performance will be one of the strengths of the SoC:
- L3 cache increased to 16MB.
- SLC (System Level Cache) cache increased to 10MB.
- Its Cortex-X930 cores are rumored to be faster than Apple's A19 and A19 Pro.
As mentioned, the Dimensity 9500 also supports ARM's Scalable Matrix Extension (SME), which helps the chip set a new bar for single/multi-core performance that perhaps only Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 can match. Given the current results, we recommend that readers wait patiently for updated numbers, as these early test results may give an inaccurate impression.
