What is Dragon Ball Daima about?
After learning what happened to Dabura and Majin Buu, new figures in the Demon Realm see Goku and his companions as a threat. A wish reduces the heroes to smaller bodies, and Goku travels into the Demon Realm with Supreme Kai and new allies to reverse the transformation and rescue Dende.
The setup returns Goku to using the Power Pole and places more emphasis on exploration, strange environments, and hand-to-hand combat adapted to his smaller body. It is an original anime story rather than a television adaptation of a pre-existing Daima manga.
Where does Daima fit in the Dragon Ball story?
The series takes place after the defeat of Majin Buu in Dragon Ball Z and before the later events introduced in Dragon Ball Super. It expands the Demon Realm, the Supreme Kai's background, and several concepts connected to magic and the Dragon Balls.
That placement does not mean every detail should be forced into an exact episode-to-episode chronology. The simplest viewing order is to finish the Majin Buu arc, watch all 20 episodes of Daima, and then continue to Dragon Ball Super.
How many episodes are there?
There are 20 episodes. The original schedule in this article incorrectly projected Saturday release dates and treated later episodes as estimates. The Japanese broadcast actually ran on Fridays from October 11, 2024, through February 28, 2025, and the full season is now available in supported streaming catalogs.
| Episodes | Original broadcast period | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 1–5 | October 11–November 8, 2024 | Released |
| 6–10 | November 15–December 13, 2024 | Released |
| 11–15 | December 20, 2024–January 24, 2025 | Released |
| 16–20 | January 31–February 28, 2025 | Released |
The final episode is Episode 20. Crunchyroll's announcement confirms the February 28 finale, while Netflix currently lists the season as 20 episodes.

What Akira Toriyama contributed
The official Dragon Ball site credits Akira Toriyama with the original work, story, and character designs. This is more specific than saying the anime is simply “based on the main manga”: Toriyama created the central concept and new material for the animated project. The production was also part of the franchise's 40th-anniversary period.
For a spoiler-free official description of his involvement, see the Dragon Ball official site.
Before you start
- The premiere runs longer than a typical episode; most later episodes are around standard anime length.
- The season tells one continuous story, so release order is the intended viewing order.
- Avoid fan-uploaded “full episodes” that redirect to external players or downloads.
- If a platform shows fewer than 20 episodes, check the selected language track or regional catalog.
