Don't Miss These 5 Little-Known Apple Music Features!
Apple Music is one of the best music streaming services out there. Apple offers a wide variety of features for every music fan. But here are some features you might not know about.
5. Create a radio station from a single song
Even though Apple Music has millions of songs to choose from, it can sometimes be difficult to find exactly what you want to listen to. One of the best ways to discover unique music is to create a radio station based on a song, album, artist, or genre. Tell Apple Music a tune you like, and the app will create a radio station with other similar tracks you might like. It's a great way to expand your musical horizons beyond the old.
To create a radio station, find the song, album, artist, or genre you want to use for the radio station. Press and hold until a new menu appears on the screen. Then, select Create Station . Go to the Recently Played section in the Home tab to find the station. This is one of my favorite ways to break up my usual listening routine with some new songs that I often enjoy.
Creating a radio station isn't the only way to find new music. Try these helpful tips for finding new tunes on Apple Music.
4. Wake up to a custom alarm every morning
There's also a better way to wake up in the morning than a blaring alarm. On iPhone, you can easily pick a specific Apple Music song as your alarm. To get started, just open the Clock app on your iPhone. Tap + to add an alarm. Set the time and repeat the alarm if you want. You can also add a label. Tap Sound , then Songs and tap Pick a song .
And instead of waking up with a start, you can enjoy one of your favorite tunes as you gently greet the morning. It really makes a big difference. Try it with one of your favorite songs!
3. Enjoy Spatial and Lossless Audio
While music can often be a group experience, Apple Music has two great options that take the experience to the next level when you use compatible headphones — Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio.
Spatial Audio on Apple Music uses Dolby Atmos technology to provide a 3D soundstage with sound that seems to come from all around you. While many modern Apple devices support the feature, you'll need compatible headphones like Apple's AirPods or Beats to truly experience the technology as intended.
While the technology can sometimes be a work in progress, with a good song the results are incredible. Instead of simple stereo, you can close your eyes and imagine yourself right in front of the band or artist as they perform. There are hundreds of thousands of songs available in Spatial Audio – just look for the Dolby Atmos icon in Apple Music. There are also a number of playlists specifically designed with Spatial Audio tunes in mind.
Along with Spatial Audio, Lossless Audio on Apple Music can provide an even better listening experience. This format preserves all the original audio information, meaning nothing is lost during compression. It has a higher bit rate and sample rate than other formats. Because of the high-quality music, you can't listen to lossless music over Bluetooth on your iPhone. You'll need to connect it to your iPhone or another device via a wired connection. To make sure lossless audio is enabled, go to Settings > Apps > Music . Finally, tap Audio Quality and make sure Lossless Audio is turned on.
2. Sing a song with Apple Music Sing
There are just times when you just want to start singing a song. You might be happy, sad, or feeling something else. Just singing your heart out is great.
With Apple Music Sing, you can sing along to your favorite songs as real-time lyrics appear on screen. Special technology separates your vocals from the song's background music so you can focus only on your voice.
To activate Apple Music Sing, select the Lyrics and Quotation mark icon in the lower left corner of any song page. When the lyrics appear, select the microphone icon to start singing. And because karaoke is better when you sing together, Duet View will appear on any track with multiple artists.

1. Monthly Playlist
Sure, Spotify may get all the press with its year-end recaps. But Apple Music doesn't make you wait 12 months to see its most popular songs. Its unique Monthly Playlist gives you a monthly roundup of some of the songs you can't stop listening to. To see your monthly recap, head to the Home tab on Apple Music via mobile, browser, or the desktop app. Scroll down, select the Replay 2025 playlist card , and add it to your library.
