Dell introduces the first Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered laptop in the Inspiron 14 series
Dell has officially launched its first ARM-based Windows laptop model called Inspiron 14, with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 high-performance mobile computing platform.
It owns a screen. LED 14-inch FHD resolution supports anti-glare technology, along with integrated Adreno 690 graphics card, 8 GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD storage.
In terms of ports, the Inspiron 14 is equipped with two USB-C ports, a regular USB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Micro-SD card slot. It also includes a 1080p FHD Webcam with dual microphones, a dual stereo speaker system, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2.
Powering the entire system is a 40 Wh battery with a 65W Type-C power adapter in the box. Dell's internal tests show that the device can reach up to 16 hours of local HD video playback. In addition, because it runs on a cool and compact ARM chip, Inspiron 14 does not need to be equipped with a cooling fan, which significantly reduces noise during use. This combined with an extremely lightweight chassis gives the device a notable advantage in the already competitive Windows laptop space.
With only a single configuration and a price of $499, Dell's Inspiron 14 is positioned in a rather cramped segment when competing directly with existing AMD and Intel-powered laptops on the market, as well as its own. Dell. However, the Inspiron 14 has a huge advantage in the price. While configuration-equivalent siblings usually range from $549.99 to $649.99, Dell's new ARM laptop is up to $100 cheaper.
