Jenny Hanh is a photographer from Sardinia - Italy. When the Italian plague broke out, there was a lot of false information about the overcrowding, leaving the elderly and background patients here, making the Vietnamese community in Italy very confused.
Ms. J. Hanh sought and eventually obtained official information. In the evening of the same day, Dr. Roberto Fumagalli Head of Department of Anesthesia and Resuscitation of Niguarda Hospital (Milan), lecturer of the University of Bicocca Milano had a video answering to the press and Italians.
She mobilized admins Vietnamese Women's Association in Italy to translate the doctor's words and wanted to send a message about Vietnam so that people can better understand the situation in Italy and the doctors here are not as "emotionless" as many previously posted.
According to Ms Jenny Hanh, people are equating a principle in medicine that is to save people with higher survivability than with "Italian doctors must choose to save younger people" "to save people 40 years ago, people 60 age "confuses the community.
The Covid epidemic - 19 in Italy increased
Here is the full text of Dr. Roberto Fumagalli's confirmation of the situation in Italy translated by the Vietnamese Women's Union Admin in Italy:
ROBERTO FUMAGALLI DOCTOR (Dean of Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department of Niguarda Hospital (Milan): We are fighting, people don't believe in fake news!
"We are fighting from February 24, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to reorganize the department's operations. Patients are transferred from the Emergency Department to be admitted to the departments that correspond to the condition, until the serious illness progresses to the intensive care unit (ICU), we have developed a system that guarantees the maximum possible treatment for each patient.
Every day the team of doctors, nurses, technicians treat patients with all their enthusiasm and great care. There is no fatigue on their faces but only the desire to overcome the disease.
Unfortunately, despite our great efforts in the past few days, we have been spreading fake fake news about a bogus situation.
We let patients die on their own
We do not set breathing tubes for elderly patients to be TRUE
We treat based on the age of the patient is NOT TRUE
The intensive care department is full of young patients who are NOT TRUE
The number of young patients treated in the intensive care unit is very low.
We request that you do not contribute to the distribution of this false information. Trust only verified sources. "
The truth in Italy is not as many people think
The truth about the disease in Italy from the perspective of the mind of the epidemic
From the center of Covid-19 epidemic in Itali, Ms. J. Hanh provided her perspective on the disease situation here. She believes that information on the disease in Italy needs to be properly viewed. Do not dramatize stories about Covid - 19 in Italy to cause confusion.
1. The death rate for Covid-19 in Italy is high because the population of Italy is an aging population. Italy has the oldest population in Europe and ranks second in the world. The majority of deaths in Italy are between 80 and 90 years of age, with underlying disease.
2. The disease in Italy is not subjective. The first two patients with Covid-19 in Italy were discovered on January 30, 2020, two Chinese tourists, spending the night in the Palatino hotel in the heart of Rome.
Immediately the Italians worried and a series of Chinese shops had to close, isolating people returning from Wuhan. This is the first country in Europe to ban flights to China Day
On 20/02/2020, after 20 days, Italy appeared the 3rd shift in Codogno city, Lombardy province, Northern Italy. This is a person who did not travel to China, the Government did not find the first carrier - zero patient.
Italian health officials said that before the case was discovered there were many other cases of SARS-CoV-2 but were unaware, because one city hospital had recorded numerous cases of pneumonia just before. Also during the period of influenza and pneumonia every year so many people may have been unaware it was Covid -19. The patient had an incubation period and many people spread the virus without knowing and without testing, so the number of cases increased rapidly after February 20.
3. Italy is also the European country which tests Covid 19 the most (42,000 tests to 7.03). The initial 10,000 test strips the government tested on a large scale and did not require any suspected infection, so the number of early detection cases increased rapidly. The government then revised the standard as other countries only tested when patients showed signs of Covid-19.
4. Due to cultural factors of communication, when meeting people often hug and kiss their cheeks, new acquaintances shake hands. City people mainly move daily by public transport such as buses, trams so the ability to spread very quickly. Adding seasonal climate factors, the ideal temperature for a virus outbreak.
5. Many comments criticize Italians who do not wear masks. But in fact, there are not enough masks to buy from before the outbreak. Masks and hand-wash cleanser are stored by some Asians to return to Vietnam or Asia.
Italians have difficulty in buying masks because all pharmacies have posted a notice of out of stock. They strictly follow the government and WHO recommendations to wear when sick and in necessary cases, to save a mask for health workers.
6. Currently there has been a nationwide blockade order, all trading points are organized in an orderly manner, the people are not disturbed, comply with the distance of more than 1 m from each other, do not buy massively. The Italians in difficult times expressed their agreement with the government. On FB group groups, everyone encouraged each other with the slogan "io resto a casa" (I am at home) to protect the community and minimize the dangerous spread to the elderly.
