Chrome takes the market share of Internet Explorer and Firefox.
According to StatCounter, by March 19, Microsoft's browser took the No. 1 position with 35% market share. The reason for the sharp increase in the number of Chrome software users is that on Sunday, office workers are off and they do not have to use the default browser on a company computer.
"While Chrome only keeps the number one spot for a while, this is an important milestone in the history of web surfing software. On weekends, people are free to use their favorite browser and they have chosen Chrome." Aodhan Cullen, CEO of StatCounter, said.
Internet Explorer is slumping due to fierce competition by rivals Firefox and Chrome. In July 2008, Microsoft held up to 70% of Internet Explorer users, but currently only 35% left. Many people say they like other web surfing software because of its faster speed and extension support (add-on).
