Apple MacBook Air 15.3 inch launched: M2 chip, 18-hour battery, thinnest laptop in the world
After a long time with countless rumors, Apple has finally officially launched the new generation 15.3-inch MacBook Air model on the WWDC 2023 stage.
Overall, the 15.3-inch MacBook Air has an almost similar design to the 13.6-inch variant. However, this is the first time a 15-inch version of the best-selling Mac line in the Apple ecosystem has been launched, so there will be many factors worth paying attention to, not just the appearance design.
Overall, the mission that Apple has with this product is to satisfy users' needs for a large screen in a thin and light MacBook, while still ensuring processing performance. According to Apple, this is the thinnest 15-inch laptop model on the market to date with a maximum thickness of only 11.5mm and weight of about 1.4kg.
Despite its thinness and lightness, the 15.3-inch MacBook Air still ensures to provide users with a full range of basic connection ports including a headphone jack, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports and MagSafe (no HDMI port like the Pro version). . Along with that is a 6-speaker sound system that ensures users' immediate entertainment needs.
In terms of design, the machine is completed from a luxurious monolithic metal frame. The screen size is 15.3 inches with an ultra-thin border of only 5mm. This screen uses the same IPS Liquid Retina panel as the 13.6-inch version, supports 500 nits brightness and has a "rabbit ears" design with a 1080p webcam. Because of the larger screen, the 15.3-inch MacBook Air's notch will feel less chunky than the 13-inch variant. The keyboard layout of the two versions is the same, but the 15.3-inch variant of course has a larger chassis, somewhat similar to the layout on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. In terms of color, the device comes in four distinct colors - Starlight, Midnight, Space Gray and Silver.
The heart of the 15-inch MacBook Air is the Apple M2 chip similar to the 13.6-inch version with proven performance. Apple says this chip is up to 12 times more powerful than previous MacBook Air models running Intel chips. At the same time, it also provides impressive battery life with 18 hours of use. Compared to other 15-inch Windows laptop models, Apple also affirms that the 15-inch MacBook Air provides 2 times more performance, 2 times brighter screen and 50% more battery life.
The 15.3-inch MacBook Air is expected to have a starting price of $1,299, $200 more expensive than the 13.6-inch variant.
