Anyone can try Midjourney for free (no Discord required)
And if you sign up quickly, you can even get a limited-time free trial to create AI art.
Midjourney is now available to everyone without Discord
For most of its life, Midjourney has been limited to Discord, with all those interested in the AI artwork generator needing to sign up to use Discord before being able to use Midjourney. This is considered a beta version of the AI image generation software.
In December 2023, VentureBeat reported, Midjourney launched its alpha website. However, the company initially limited access to existing users who had created 10,000 images or more. That means the majority of people can't use the site.
The Midjourney website is now available for anyone who wants to use it. Even new users just registered to use. And you don't have to go through Discord to try it out.
You can still sign up via Discord, but you don't have to, as Google is now an option. And if you're quick, Midjourney even lets you create some free images without having to pay.
Free trial for those who sign up quickly
If you use your Google account to sign up, you'll immediately be granted access and create 25 free images. This is a huge offer.
You can then start creating AI art to your liking (at least temporarily) with a series of prompts. The results are extremely impressive, especially after some tinkering. It's understandable why many people enjoy using Midjourney to create AI art and get hooked on paying for the privilege.
Other AI image generators are available (and free)
It's great that Midjourney is now available for anyone who wants to use it. And if you can sign up to get started while the free trial is still available, you won't even have to pay.
However, the problem facing Midjourney, and perhaps the reason access has been opened in this way, is the level of competition present. Not only are there many other AI art generators available, many are free to use. And while they may not be as powerful as Midjourney, for free they're hard to beat.
However, if you can grab a free Midjourney trial while it's still available, you can do so too. You'll have to be quick, however, as Midjourney makes it clear that this is a temporary offer.
