Five of the ten images below were generated with AI, according to this challenge's answer key. Can you pick them out? Inspect details and context, but remember that a convincing image can be synthetic and an odd-looking photo can be real. The descriptions accompany the images; they do not establish their origin.
Look at all ten images before checking the key

What this exercise can and cannot tell you
The challenge identifies Google's Nano Banana as the generator for the synthetic images and says ChatGPT drafted the scene descriptions. Its answer key supplies the labels, but no original camera files, generation records or source links are included for independent provenance checks. A quiz score measures how you judged this set, not whether you can reliably identify AI imagery elsewhere.
Look for inconsistent lettering, lighting, reflections, repeated textures and physical details, while treating each as a clue rather than proof. For an image tied to a real-world claim, search for its earliest credible publication, check available provenance information and ask the publisher for the source when necessary. Our AI image inspection guide discusses visual checks, and the reverse image search guide helps trace where a picture appeared. Neither method alone can certify authenticity.
