Previously, there was news that Qualcomm is not only launching the Snapdragon X Elite chipset for Windows PCs but is also developing a new variant called 'Snapdragon X Plus'. The Plus variant comes in 4 different SKUs, starting with the prefix 'X1P'. Now, a report from WinFuture suggests that Qualcomm has been working on the X1P44100 and X1P46100 variants of the Snapdragon X Plus since February.

However, there is no information about frequency, number of cores, power configuration and GPU capabilities. What's unique about the Snapdragon X Plus chipset is that the Snapdragon X65 5G modem is being tested with it. That means upcoming Windows laptops with the Snapdragon X Plus chipset can access 5G mobile connectivity on the go without needing a tether.

The dream of an efficient and powerful Always Connected PC (ACPC) could become a reality in the near future. The report also indicates that the Snapdragon X Plus variant could have 10 Oryon CPU cores, instead of 12 like on the high-end Snapdragon X Elite chipset. Previous rumors suggested that development of an 8-core Qualcomm PC chipset may have been shelved.

It is said that Snapdragon X Plus will be introduced later in the market, after the launch of Snapdragon launched Surface laptops with Snapdragon X Elite chipset. The new ARM-based laptops are said to ship in June.

Additionally, a Qualcomm engineer recently confirmed that Windows games will only work on Snapdragon X Elite processors. And the recent Snapdragon X Elite benchmark shows it's on par with the Apple M2 chipset, which is great. However, it doesn't beat the Apple M3 chipset, at least on the leaked benchmarks seen so far.
