The new MacBook Air will have 'super' speed
Japanese blog Macotakara.jp reported that Apple's new MacBook Air laptop - expected to appear in the next two weeks, will be equipped with NAND flash storage chips with speeds of up to 400Mb / s.
Macotakara.jp cited information from anonymous manufacturers in Asia that Apple will accept new NAND flash chips manufactured by the 19nm process and soldered directly to the motherboard. Meanwhile, the current Apple Air computers use a mSATA connector to connect the SSD to the motherboard (only the RAM chip is attached directly to the board).
Thus, the new NAND flash storage chip will be soldered directly to the motherboard without going through any connectors like before. This new technology called Toggle Ddr2.0 will give data transfer speeds of up to 400Mb / s. This technology was approved by the onFI team in March, called onFI 3.0 .
Improvements in NAND communication on onFI 3.0 will help speed NAND control circuits to the same level as before but with only half the number of channels. This will help save costs and equipment production space. Moreover, this technology will reduce the number of pins of NAND chips, so routing will be more efficient. These chips also make cheaper and faster data transfer rates than current technologies.
If this rumor is true, MacBook Air will have faster boot times and application load times than current Air PCs , which can be 100 times faster.
